Clinic offers quick access to mental healthcare
No more long waits, out-of-town drives for psychiatric services
OXFORD, Miss. — A new mental-health clinic aims to transform the way people receive care for common problems like anxiety and depression.
Open for appointments as of July 9, Right Track Medical Group provides same-day or next-day access to licensed care providers like psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and therapists. It provides care for patients ages 18 and up.
“Our goal is to address a real need in North Mississippi,” said Dr. Katherine Pannel, psychiatrist and medical director for Right Track Medical Group.
“In our area, people who need medication for mental-health issues often have to wait weeks and drive out of town to see a psychiatrist,” she said. “Primary-care physicians have also been frustrated by not having local psychiatrists to refer to. Now these patients can get access to the care they need quickly and close to home.”

Right Track Medical Group’s approach includes psychiatric evaluation and medication management, as well as short-term individual and family therapy, and coping skills groups.
It is strictly an outpatient mental-health clinic and is not affiliated with any inpatient care provider. Those facing a severe mental-health crisis should still seek help at their nearest emergency room.
For others, though, mental-health problems are an ongoing private struggle. An estimated 43 million people in the United States experience some type of mental illness each year.
“Many people seem completely fine, but are actually dealing with a lot of anxiety or depression below the surface,” said Clark Hunt, LPC, treatment coordinator for Right Track Medical Group. “We want to see them get better, and we want to see it happen as soon as possible. That means tailoring a plan that may include both medication and therapy, to eliminate fragmented care and speed results.”
Right Track Medical Group accepts private pay and commercial insurance. The clinic is located at 1203 Medical Park Drive, off Belk Boulevard in the former location of Oxford Pediatric Group.
