About TMS Treatment
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a treatment process developed to ease the symptoms associated with certain mental health conditions, such as depression. TMS works by producing magnetic fields that target specific regions of the brain, regulate brain activity and reduce the negative symptoms associated with those conditions. This innovative form of treatment provides an additional option for those individuals who have not responded well to traditional forms of treatment, such as therapy and medication.
TMS is a safe and effective treatment for individuals looking for alternative mental health therapies, and particularly treatment-resistant patients.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is TMS safe?
Yes, TMS is a non-invasive procedure that has been approved by the FDA for use in treating depression, OCD and smoking cessation in adults.
What is TMS treatment like?
During TMS treatment, a padded helmet is fitted to the patient’s head. The helmet sends out magnetic waves to regulate brain activity. Typically, TMS treatment occurs over a period of three to four months. In the initial phases of treatment, patients may begin with five sessions per week. After the initial phase, many patients move to only two sessions per week. Each session typically lasts between 20 and 30 minutes. During the session and at follow-up visits, you will be under close supervision by your psychiatrist.
Can I still go to therapy while undergoing TMS treatment?
Yes. TMS treatment is safe to combine with both therapy and medications. Your psychiatrist will work closely with you to determine an individualized plan for treatment, which could include TMS combined with therapy and/or medications.
Am I eligible for TMS treatment?
Typically, TMS eligibility is determined by your insurance company. Your licensed mental health professional may also be able to help you determine if you qualify for treatment based on your medical history and current treatment plan. While TMS is safe for most people, individuals with any metal implants in and around the head (except for standard dental fillings) should not receive TMS treatment.
How much does TMS cost?
TMS costs will vary based on a number of factors, including your insurance plan, type of condition and the number of treatment sessions you require. Our team can help you determine general costs for your treatment plan.
Where can I find TMS treatment near me?
TMS services are available at our Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Madison, Olive Branch, Oxford and Tupelo clinics.
