Outpatient Mental Health Clinic Opens in Hattiesburg
Right Track Medical Group provides individualized care for depression, anxiety, stress and other mental health needs
Right Track Medical Group was joined by the Pine Belt community as they celebrated the opening of their Hattiesburg clinic at 101 Aldersgate Circle on Wednesday, Aug. 5. A ribbon cutting ceremony was hosted by Right Track Medical Group and the Hattiesburg Area Development Partnership. All attendees were required to wear a mask and practice social distancing throughout the event.
The Pine Belt area now has access to quality, tailored outpatient mental healthcare as a physician-led clinic opens its doors to patients. Right Track Medical Group is currently seeing patients in-person and via its telepsychiatry services.
Right Track Medical Group offers a physician-led approach to treating anxiety, depression and other mental health disorders on an outpatient basis. Its staff includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and licensed therapists.
“Part of the vision in starting Right Track Medical Group was to change the face of outpatient mental healthcare in Mississippi by providing convenient access to care,” said Dr. Stephen Pannel, DO, ABPN, ABAM, psychiatrist and Chief Medical Officer of Right Track Medical Group.
The clinic’s model is designed to intervene before a mental illness reaches a crisis level, when inpatient treatment can be necessary.

“Our goal is to see patients the same day or next day upon referral,” Pannel said. “People who need treatment for mental-health concerns often have to wait weeks to see a provider. Now, these patients have access to the care they need quickly and close to home.”
Right Track Medical Group’s services include psychiatric evaluation and medication management, as well as individual and family therapy and coping skills groups. All services are available at one location, eliminating fragmented care and speeding progress in treatment.
The clinic is suited to treat patients of all ages, from children to adults. Right Track Medical Group is also poised to serve the nearby student population at the University of Southern Mississippi and Pearl River Community College.
“College-aged students have some of the highest rates of mental illness,” said Pannel. “That transition period to young adulthood is full of adventure, but also stress and anxiety. Right Track’s addition of telepsychiatry services allows us to provide continuous treatment patients, including college students who may be unable to make it into an office when school is out.”
Right Track Medical Group is now accepting in-person and telepsychiatry appointments for medication management, psychiatric assessments and private mental health counseling at its Hattiesburg clinic, which is located near the Merit Health Medical Group campus at 101 Aldersgate Circle.
